About

New York native, Jessica F. Marquez, never thought she’d venture thousands of miles outside her comforts of Queens. That is, until a Spring Break visit in 2003 changed that very outlook. Ready for a change of scenery from the concrete jungle, the self-proclaimed “Simply Jess” moved to Miami in 2004. Leaving behind all the negative energy, Jess turned to a new city in search of something special what New York did not offer her. Not to mention the drastic change in weather, Jess considers herself to be much more of a tropical girl! Although Jess has built her new life here in Miami, she never forgets her roots and visits her hometown of Queens often.

The move to Miami seemed just right for Jess, her mother bought a home in Florida; she fell for a great guy and also received a great job opportunity in the city. After packing up her small rental Jeep, 20 hours later Jess never looked back and little did she know this move had the potential to create a pivotal change in her life and career.

Upon arriving to Miami, Jess started off as a model scout for an area-modeling agency. Little did she know, it turned out she was working for a scam artist who did not pay her one-dime for the hard work and effort she put in. Unfortunately, that caused a ton of financial pressure and Jess was evicted from her apartment. But that situation turned into a learning opportunity and a mere stepping-stone on the road to success. As we
all can experience, true success never comes with ease, but takes dedication, drive and ambition. All of which Jess embodied in herself as a young woman. After a rough start, things began to take a turn for the better for Jess with a move to South Beach and a new mindset to match.

Jess started working the door at South Beach clubs, Mansion, Opium and Privé. The experience gave Jess the chance to learn the ins and outs of the club scene and the “who’s who” of South Beach; the celebrities, the models, the socialites, and the athletes. After all, life is a combination of what and whom you know. While working the door was fun and a great way to network, Jess’ drive and hunger created a need for a new endeavor.

At the time, Mansion and Opium were two of Miami’s “hot spots” so Jess and her former boyfriend (name instead?) began doing promotion for the clubs. After learning the ropes, the two started their own dinner party at Harrison’s Steakhouse & Lounge, and named it: The 400 Club. In less than one year, the business took off! Growing from an intimate 50-person dinner party, to the most popular and exclusive R&B dinner party in Miami. In fact, once it grew significantly the duo had to move the party to a larger venue: The Fifth Nightclub. Featuring two floors of sheer decadence, three bars and two VIP sections this new location fell nothing short of what The 400 Club needed.

Expertise

If you know enough about Miami, you know that the club scene is all about “the look”, and that is exactly what Jess brings. The 400 Life invites and hosts only the most beautiful women and VIPs in South Beach. Jess has built her brand effectively into a known business by adopting it as a lifestyle, rather than a job.

“I also spend a lot of time meeting new people on Twitter and Facebook. Since I was new to Miami when I started working, I used to always meet so many people through MySpace. That’s how I got my nickname ‘SimplyJess’”

Currently The Four Hundred has three weekly events, which include nightclubs, dinner parties as well as pool parties. Thursday The Four Hundred takes it to the 400 Studios at Mansion, Friday hosting a sexy dinner party at Chakra Lounge and Saturday nights at Cameo. For more info on events click here.

Simply Jess the Model

Jess uses modeling as a platform to keep photos on her webpage updated and seek out opportunities on a wider-scale. Jess always looked at modeling as more of a hobby than a career.

“I enjoy the process; getting my make-up and hair done, working with different photographers…I have done a couple of ads, magazine spreads and fashion shows.”

Jess is currently planning a few new projects and some exciting things brewing in the works. Stay up to date with Jess on SimplyJess.com!

“Between my parties, modeling, website and company the future looks both extremely busy and promising!”
